Report: Manchester United to hijack Manchester City bid for Leonardo Bonucci

Manchester United are ready to take on city rivals Manchester City for Juventus and Italy centre-back Leonardo Bonucci, according to reports.

Manchester United have expressed an interest in signing Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci from under the noses of Manchester City, according to reports.

New Red Devils manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly eager to add another centre-back to his squad this summer following the acquisition of Eric Bailly from Villarreal.

According to The Mirror, the Portuguese boss has identified Bonucci as an experienced addition to further reinforce United's spine, although Man City are reportedly preparing a £51m offer to land the Italy international.

Bonucci starred for the Azzurri at Euro 2016, helping his country to the quarter-finals of the competition.
