Manchester United are reportedly looking to beat Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Sunderland prospect Joe Hugill.

Manchester United are reportedly keen to secure a deal for Sunderland youngster Joe Hugill.

While the forward is yet to come into contention for a first-team debut, three goals in seven matches at Premier League youth level has put the 16-year-old on the radar of bigger clubs.

Tottenham Hotspur have been heavily linked with the teenager and had been expected to win the race for his signature.

However, according to The Sun, United have indicated that they are willing to edge out the North Londoners during the next transfer window.

The report suggests that United are willing to pay a six-figure sum for the prospect, who would spend time in the club's academy setup before being considered for opportunities with the senior squad.
