Manchester United have reportedly made contact with Benfica over the possibility of signing Darwin Nunez in the upcoming transfer window.
Nunez, who joined Benfica from Almeria in 2020, has caught the eye of a number of clubs across Europe after scoring 26 goals in 28 league appearances this season.
Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid have all reportedly shown an interest in the 22-year-old, but according to the Daily Mirror, Manchester United have already made contact with Benfica and Nunez's representatives.
The striker is reportedly available for €60m (£50.6m), with United looking to bring the Uruguayan to Old Trafford to support Cristiano Ronaldo in the forward line.
However, the lack of Champions League football could prove to be a stumbling block for the Red Devils, with Nunez said to be keen to play in Europe's premier club competition next term.
If the forward does depart Benfica in the summer, he will leave after scoring 47 goals in 84 appearances for the club across all competitions.
