Manchester United have reportedly submitted a contract offer to Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo, who is entering the final year of his deal in Italy.
The Portuguese talisman joined Juventus in 2018 following a hugely successful nine-year spell with Real Madrid, and he has continued his goalscoring form with 101 goals in 133 appearances in all competitions for the Turin outfit.
The 36-year-old also recently caught eyes during Euro 2020, scoring five goals and registering an assist from four games despite Portugal being knocked out by Belgium in the last 16.
With his lucrative contract ending next summer, The Mirror reports that Manchester United have become the first side to formally contact their former star, offering him a deal to return to Old Trafford.
Such a move would see him turn out for the Red Devils for the first time since he departed for Real Madrid in 2009, for a then world record transfer fee.
Ronaldo scored 118 goals and registered 69 assists in 292 games for the English giants, adding three Premier League titles and a Champions League to his trophy cabinet.
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner is thought to be open to a return to Manchester United to link up with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood and Portugal teammate Bruno Fernandes, having initially moved to England from Sporting Lisbon aged 18.
