Manchester United 'make breakthrough in Bruno Fernandes talks'

Manchester United make a breakthrough in their pursuit of Sporting Lisbon attacker Bruno Fernandes, according to a report.

Manchester United have reportedly make a breakthrough in their pursuit of Bruno Fernandes.

The Sporting Lisbon attacker continues to be linked with a move to Old Trafford, although the Portuguese club's unwillingness to drop their valuation had seemingly led to the deal stalling.

Fernandes is believed to have told a close friend that he expects to join the 20-time English champions this month, though, and according to A Bola, United have now made a breakthrough in transfer discussions.

The report claims that the Red Devils have made an offer of £47m up front with the deal potentially rising a further £8.5m due to various performance-based add-ons.

United could allegedly agree a deal with Sporting before they take to the field for Wednesday's Premier League clash with Burnley, although it is still unclear when the attacker would head to Manchester if that were the case.

Fernandes has been in impressive form at club level during the 2019-20 campaign, scoring 15 times and contributing 14 assists in 27 appearances in all competitions.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side have also been credited with an interest in AC Milan forward Krzysztof Piatek due to the fact that Marcus Rashford is facing a long spell on the sidelines with a back injury.
