Manchester United are exploring the possibility of bringing two new goalkeepers to Old Trafford this summer, according to a report.

Manchester United are reportedly exploring the possibility of bringing two new goalkeepers to Old Trafford during this summer's transfer window.

David de Gea, who has been the number one at Old Trafford for almost all of the last 12 seasons, is no longer contracted to the club, with his deal expiring at the end of June.

There is still a chance that De Gea could return to the Red Devils in the near future, with discussions ongoing with the Spaniard over a potential new contract.

However, Man United are currently pushing to sign Andre Onana from Inter Milan, and the Cameroonian would become the new first-choice stopper at Old Trafford if he arrived.

De Gea could potentially be given the opportunity to return as a number two, but it is unclear whether that would appeal to the Spaniard at this stage of his career.

As it stands, Tom Heaton and Dean Henderson are the only two first-team stoppers at Old Trafford, as Jack Butland, who was the number three in the second half of last season, has now joined Rangers from Crystal Palace.

Heaton is not seen as a number one, while Henderson is expected to join Nottingham Forest on a permanent basis, meaning that the club's goalkeeping situation is far from clear at this moment in time.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Man United are open to bringing two new goalkeepers to the club during the current market.

The report claims that Onana remains the leading target between the sticks, and if De Gea does not return, another stopper is likely to arrive alongside the Cameroonian.

Feyenoord's Justin Bijlow is also being linked with a move to the club as a potential number two, although the size of Man United's budget at this stage remains unclear.

As it stands, there is thought to be around £65m left in the budget, but there will be exits in the coming weeks, with Fred, Scott McTominay and Anthony Martial all being linked with departures.

De Gea had initially been widely expected to sign a new deal at Old Trafford, but some high-profile errors in the latter stages of last season led to Man United reconsidering their position.

The stopper's £375,000-a-week deal has now expired, and it is understood that he would have to be prepared to accept a significantly lower salary to return to the Red Devils.
