Manchester United and Barcelona are reportedly ready to hijack Chelsea's move for Monaco defender Benoit Badiashile in the January window.

Manchester United and Barcelona are reportedly ready to hijack Chelsea's move for Monaco's Benoit Badiashile.

Graham Potter is understood to be in the market for young defenders to freshen up his backline, with the likes of Thiago Silva, Kalidou Koulibaly and Cesar Azpilicueta all over the age of 30.

According to football.london, a £35m deal between Chelsea and the French side is close, but they face competition from United and Barcelona.

Furthermore, it is also said that the project at Stamford Bridge remains his preferred destination, for now.

The 21-year-old centre-back came through the Monaco youth system and has played 135 times in all competitions since breaking into the first-team squad in 2018.

Badiashile has been a key figure this season, starting in 14 of his 16 appearances so far, as Monaco currently sit fifth in Ligue 1.
