Nottingham Forest are reportedly keeping tabs on Matt Turner and Djordje Petrovic after hitting a stumbling block in negotiations for Dean Henderson.

Nottingham Forest have reportedly turned their attentions towards Matt Turner and Djordje Petrovic in the hunt for a new goalkeeper.

Dean Henderson has looked the most likely man to come in and fill the current gap in goal at the club, but negotiations with Manchester United have hit a stumbling block.

Therefore, Forest are now believed to be targeting New England Revolution past and present, with Turner, now at Arsenal, and Petrovic both linked.

Forest are said to be looking at other options because of concerns over the fitness of Henderson going forward.

Henderson spent last season on loan at the City Ground, but missed the second half of the season with injury, as Keylor Navas came in to fill the void.

Therefore, the Manchester Evening News claims that Forest's worries mean that they would prefer to sign the goalkeeper on loan with an obligation to buy.

That obligation is believed to be when Henderson plays 30 matches next season, but that advance has been rejected by Man United.

United would prefer a deal to be done immediately so the club can recoup a transfer fee for the player in order to balance the books after another summer of high spending at Old Trafford.

Henderson has gone on record to state that he wishes to play first-team football next season, and that seems unlikely after Andre Onana's arrival at Man United.

With Forest cautious though, moves for Turner and Petrovic have reportedly been made over the weekend.

Fabrizio Romano claims that USA international Turner is on their radar, especially following reports that Arsenal are in the running to sign David Raya from Brentford.

The signing of Raya would push Turner further down the pecking order at the Emirates, making a move away from the club more likely.

However, at present, Forest and Arsenal are said to be some distance apart on their respective valuations for the player.

The same has been said about Petrovic, as The Athletic states that New England Revolution have rejected bids from both Forest and Nantes for the stopper.

The report claims that Forest's bid was in the region of £6.2m plus potential performance-related add-ons.

MLS sees their transfer window close on Wednesday, leaving New England with little time to find a suitable replacement, so striking an agreement for Petrovic would appear tough at this stage.
