Bruno Fernandes still plans on leaving Sporting Lisbon in the near future despite recently signing a new deal, according to a report.

Bruno Fernandes is reportedly still planning on leaving Sporting Lisbon in the near future despite only signing a new contract with the Portuguese club on Wednesday.

The attacker, who was strongly linked with Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United over the summer, has put pen to paper on a new deal until the summer of 2023.

However, according to the Daily Mail, the Portugal international's situation with Sporting has not changed, with the contract only being put in place to make him the highest-paid player at the club.

The report claims that Fernandes's release clause still stands at £85m, although there is an agreement that any offers of £60m will be accepted.

The 25-year-old scored his 10th and 11th goals of the season in Sporting's 4-0 win over PSV Eindhoven in the Europa League on Thursday night.

New Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho is said to be keen on a January deal for the attacker, who managed 32 goals in all competitions during the 2018-19 campaign.
