Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag denies that Marcus Rashford could leave Old Trafford before the end of the transfer window.

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has dismissed suggestions that Marcus Rashford could leave Old Trafford before the end of the summer transfer window.

On Thursday evening, a report claimed that Paris Saint-Germain had been in touch with the England international's camp to discuss a possible move to Paris before the deadline.

Rashford's brother, Dwaine Rashford, is said to have met with PSG last week, with the French giants keen to bring in a new forward over the next couple of weeks.

"We want another striker to come in. With a busy schedule, we want arrivals. The club is working, I am in direct contact with Luis Campos," PSG boss Christophe Galtier told reporters on Thursday.

"Luis is in direct contact with our president. We must not make any mistakes. Will this player arrive? We don't know. It has to be a real plus."

However, when asked about the speculation during Friday's press conference, Ten Hag insisted that the Englishman would not be on the move before the end of the window.

"He is really important. You have seen from the first day I'm in [the club], I've been really pleased [with him]. Definitely, I don't want to lose him. He's in our plans and he will stay at Manchester United," the Dutchman told reporters.

Rashford struggled to make his mark for Man United last term, managing only five goals and two assists in 31 appearances, and there had been suggestions earlier this year that he was looking to depart this summer.

The forward has entered the final year of his contract at Old Trafford, although the club have the option of extending it for another 12 months, putting them in a relatively strong position.

Rashford was named in the starting side against Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League last weekend, but he found it difficult to make his mark in what proved to be a 2-1 loss for Ten Hag's side.

The forward has scored 93 goals and registered 57 assists in 303 appearances for Man United, and he is said to be keen to remain at Old Trafford amid the speculation surrounding his future.

"We have got that feeling of excitement and that buzz around the training ground again and so it is definitely positive going into pre-season," Rashford told MUTV earlier this summer. "It is just about, one, getting the principles right of how Erik [Ten Hag] wants us to play and the details, and, two, enjoying it."

Rashford is again expected to be in the first XI against Brentford on Saturday, while Cristiano Ronaldo is also in line to start despite the ongoing speculation surrounding his future.

There will again be no Anthony Martial, though, with the France international still unavailable for selection due to a hamstring problem that he picked up during pre-season.
