Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward stays in the UK to complete transfer business, according to a report.

Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward will reportedly not fly out to meet with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's squad in Shanghai in order to instead complete transfer business.

United have won all three of their pre-season matches this summer and will continue their preparations for the 2019-20 campaign against Tottenham Hotspur in Shanghai on Thursday.

Woodward had been tipped to link up with the squad as he has not missed a summer tour since stepping into his current role in 2013.

According to the London Evening Standard, though, the 47-year-old has stayed in the UK to oversee moves for Leicester City centre-back Harry Maguire and Newcastle United's Sean Longstaff.

Maguire continues to be linked with an £80m move to Old Trafford, while Longstaff is also believed to be on the club's wishlist ahead of the 2019-20 campaign.

Sporting Lisbon's Bruno Fernandes, meanwhile, is another player to be linked with a switch to United before the window closes for business early next month.

Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka have both completed moves to the 20-time English champions since the end of last season.
