Borussia Dortmund will not allow Jadon Sancho to return to England over the festive period due to coronavirus fears.
The 20-year-old has largely struggled in the Bundesliga this term following a summer of speculation, with Manchester United ultimately failing in their attempts to land Sancho earlier this year.
The Red Devils are expected to try again for the former Manchester City youngster next year, but Sancho is yet to find the back of the net in the current league campaign, although he has banked three top-flight assists for Dortmund.
Travel in and out of England has been severely restricted due to fears over a new variant of coronavirus, and Dortmund's sporting director Michael Zorc told Kicker: "As a result, we cannot allow them to travel to England over the Christmas period."
Germany are one of several countries to ban flights from the UK following news of the fast-moving strain, with Sancho now set to spend Christmas in North Rhine-Westphalia before returning to training on December 29.
Despite failing to get off the mark in the Bundesliga this season, Sancho has found the back of the net twice in the Champions League and once in the DFB-Pokal.
