David Moyes plays down Italy trip

David Moyes says that he is in Italy "on vacation" and not for talks with potential transfer targets.

Manchester United manager David Moyes has insisted that his attendance at Juventus's match with Cagliari yesterday afternoon was not about signings.

The Red Devils have been linked with a host of players this month, including Juventus trio Paul Pogba, Arturo Vidal and Claudio Marchisio.

However, when asked by Tuttosport regarding his reason for being at the game, Moyes claimed that he was there "on vacation".

"I'm here on vacation, no special observations and no market operations," said the Scot.

Moyes was also said to have been scouting Cagliari defender Davide Astori, who was previously thought to be a target of Southampton.
