Chelsea and Manchester United are reportedly leading the race to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen in the summer transfer window.

Chelsea and Manchester United are reportedly at the front of the queue to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen this summer.

Osimhen has been a standout performer for Luciano Spalletti's side this season, scoring 26 goals and providing five assists in 33 competitive appearances.

With 21 of those strikes arriving in the league, Osimhen is top of the Serie A scoring charts for the 2022-23 campaign, and his goals have put Napoli on the brink of winning their first Scudetto in 33 years.

Despite having two years left to run on his Napoli contract, the Nigeria international is attracting interest from across Europe.

According to Florian Plettenburg, Chelsea and Man United have moved ahead of their competitors in the race for Osimhen's signature.

The report claims that the Paris Saint-Germain hierarchy are keen to sign Osimhen, but they appear to be trailing behind the two Premier League clubs.

Bayern Munich are still looking to sign a replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who joined Barcelona last summer, and Osimhen was believed to be on their radar.

However, the Bavarians have been put off by Napoli's financial demands and have subsequently decided to cool their interest.

The Italian side are looking for a fee in the region of €150m (£132m), while Bayern are not willing to pay over the €100m (£88m) mark.

After spending over £600m in the previous two transfer windows, Chelsea are set to offload players this summer in a bid to meet financial fairplay rules, but they are still expected to sign a striker.

Chelsea are the fifth-lowest scorers in the Premier League this season, and they seemingly view Osimhen as a potential option to solve their struggles in the final third.

Man United are also looking to strengthen their forward line this summer with Burnley loanee Wout Weghorst set to return to his parent club at the end of the season.

Despite showing an interest in Osimhen, the Red Devils are reportedly yet to decide whether to push for the Nigerian or Eintracht Frankfurt striker Randal Kolo Muani.

The France international has five years left to run on his Frankfurt contract, but he is expected to attract offers this summer after scoring 21 goals in 41 games this season.

Osimhen, meanwhile, will be involved in Thursday's away meeting with Udinese, where Napoli will look to wrap up the Serie A title.
