Bayern Munich withdraw from Mehdi Benatia race?

Reports in Germany say that Bayern Munich opt against signing Mehdi Benatia, leaving the path clear for Manchester United to sign the Roma defender.

German champions Bayern Munich have reportedly ended their supposed pursuit of Mehdi Benatia.

Pep Guardiola's side had been linked with the Roma defender following a knee injury suffered by Javi Martinez, which has ruled the versatile Spaniard out of action until next year.

However, Roma's asking price of around £28m for their centre-back has resulted in Bayern pursuing other targets, according to numerous reports in Germany.

Those rumours went on to add that Bayern's withdrawal has left Manchester United as the only interested party in the 27-year-old.
