Guillem Balague: 'Manchester United want Gabriel Paulista'

Spanish journalist Guillem Balague claims that Manchester United are in the race to sign Villarreal defender Gabriel Paulista.

Respected Spanish journalist Guillem Balague has claimed that Manchester United have joined Arsenal in the race to sign Villarreal defender Gabriel Paulista.

The centre-back has recently spoken of a potential move to Arsenal, who were said to be closing on the signing of the 24-year-old.

However, according to Balague, Manchester United are also interested in signing the defender, who has been with Villarreal since 2013.

Balague has also revealed that Gabriel has a buyout in the region of £15m, which would be enough to open contract talks.

The defender has a contract with Villarreal until 2018.
