Paul Scholes returns to the Manchester United lineup as one of seven changes in Sir Alex Ferguson's last home game in charge.

Paul Scholes starts in Sir Alex Ferguson's last ever home game as Manchester United manager against Swansea City today.

The midfielder announced yesterday that he will retire from football at the end of the season.

David de Gea, Rio Ferdinand, Michael Carrick, Shinji Kagawa, Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez also return in a host of changes from United's 1-0 loss at home to Chelsea last week.

Wayne Rooney has been left out of the matchday squad and does not even appear on the substitutes' bench.

Gerhard Tremmel replaces Michel Vorm, who picked up an injury in his side's 3-2 win at Wigan Athletic on Tuesday, while top scorer Michu also returns to the side following an injury.

Manchester United: De Gea; Jones, Vidic, Ferdinand, Evra; Carrick, Scholes, Kagawa; Welbeck, Van Persie, Hernandez

Swansea City: Tremmel; Tiendalli, Chico, Williams, Taylor; Britton, De Guzman, Routledge, Hernandez; Dyer, Michu
