Team News: Vincent Kompany starts Manchester derby

Vincent Kompany returns to Manchester City's starting lineup for their match against Manchester United in the Premier League.

Vincent Kompany has been named in Manchester City's starting lineup for their match against Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Premier League.

The club's captain has been hampered by injury in recent weeks, but will start for the first time since the win over Crystal Palace six weeks ago after coming off the bench in the 2-1 win over Sevilla in the Champions League during the week.

Kompany's inclusion is one of three changes to the side that beat the Europa League holders on Wednesday, with Aleksandar Kolarov coming in for Pablo Zabaleta, while Fernando is preferred to Jesus Navas in midfield.

Meanwhile, the home side have made just one change following their draw with CKSA Moscow in the Champions League, as Juan Mata returns in place of Jesse Lingard, who starts on the bench.

Valencia continues in defence for Louis van Gaal's side, having been named in the starting lineup ahead of Darmian in midweek, while Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney continue their strike partnership.

Manchester United: De Gea; Valencia, Jones, Smalling, Rojo; Schweinsteiger, Schneiderlin, Herrera; Mata, Rooney, Martial
Subs: Romero, Blind, Darmian, Carrick, Lingard, Memphis, Fellaini

Manchester City: Hart; Sagna, Kompany, Otamendi, Kolarov; Fernando, Fernandinho, Toure, Sterling, De Bruyne; Bony
Subs: Caballero, Zabaleta, Demichelis, Mangala, Roberts, Navas, Iheanacho
