Red cards were the theme at the KC Stadium as Sunderland received two. For midfielder Lee Cattermole, it was the seventh of his career.
The only goal of the game was scored by visiting defender Carlos Cuellar, who put through his own net. As a result, the Black Cats have now scored three own goals this season, which is the same number as the other 19 teams combined.
Hull's victory was the first that they had recorded over the Wearsiders at home in four outings.

Manchester City 7-0 Norwich City
The thrashing of the Canaries was Man City's biggest winning margin in the Premier League era.
In fact, they had not scored seven goals in a game since they defeated Burnley by the same scoreline back in 1968.
Staying with goals, City's Argentine frontman Sergio Aguero has now found the back of the net six times in just four starts against Norwich.

Stoke City 1-1 Southampton
Stoke's Asmir Begovic became just the fifth goalkeeper to score in the Premier League when his clearance beat Artur Boruc in the opening minute of the match.
The Bosnian's effort now means that he is Stoke's joint-top goalscorer this season.
Up the other end, Southampton's goalscorer Jay Rodriguez has found the net three times from his last four appearances.

West Bromwich Albion 2-0 Crystal Palace
The defeated Eagles have now lost their last seven encounters, which is their worst run of form since 1998.
Also, Palace are now the only team in the division not to have drawn a match so far this term.
In contrast, hosts West Brom have suffered just one defeat from their last seven fixtures.

Paul Lambert's Villa have kept three successive clean sheets away from home for the first time since March 2010.
On the flip side, the result means that they have now gone four Premier League matches without finding the back of the net.

Arsenal 2-0 Liverpool
The North Londoner's five-point lead at the top of the standings is the biggest advantage that they have held at the summit since February 2008.
What's more, one of the major reasons for such a lead - midfielder Aaron Ramsey - has now scored six goals in the Premier League this term.
Meanwhile, the defeat was Liverpool's first on the road this season, the Reds having previously picked up eight points from a possible 12 away from Anfield.

Amazingly, Spurs have scored 19 goals fewer than Man City, but they are one place and one point better off than Manuel Pellegrini's side.
Goals have actually been limited in fixtures involving the Londoners this season, with only 14 being scored in 10 encounters.
On the other hand, Everton have been in positive form at Goodison Park, having taken 29 points from their last 11 matches in front of their own supporters.

The last three South Wales derbies have ended in 1-0 victories (two to Cardiff and one to the Swans).
Match-winner Steven Caulker has scored two goals for the Bluebirds since his summer arrival. That is as many as he managed in 44 appearances for former clubs Tottenham and Swansea.
