How Manchester United could line up against Burnley

Sports Mole looks at how Manchester United could line up in Saturday's Premier League clash with Burnley.

Manchester United's pursuit of the top four in the Premier League will continue on Saturday evening when they take on Burnley at Turf Moor.

The Red Devils moved to within four points of fourth-placed Chelsea with an impressive 4-1 win over Newcastle United at Old Trafford on Boxing Day.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side will now be looking to make it back-to-back Premier League victories when they take on a Burnley side that sit 12th in the table with 24 points.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how United could line up when they take to the field this weekend.

The main talking point surrounding the United XI ahead of this match involves Scott McTominay, who picked up a knee injury during the first half of Thursday's clash with Newcastle.

The Scotland international has not officially been ruled out of contention, but it seems unlikely that the midfielder will be available with such a quick turnaround, meaning that Paul Pogba, who has appeared off the bench against Watford and Newcastle, should come into the side in midfield.

Jesse Lingard and Daniel James are also pushing for spots in the XI with Solskjaer expected to rotate, meaning that Andreas Pereira and Mason Greenwood, who both played 90 minutes against the Magpies, could both drop to the bench.

Luke Shaw has also played a lot of football in recent weeks, meaning that there could be a change at left-back with club captain Ashley Young in contention to start.

Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial were both replaced during the second half of Thursday's contest with this match in mind, though, and the in-form pair will continue in the final third of the field.
