Bruno Fernandes debut: How Manchester United could line up against Wolves

Sports Mole looks at how Manchester United could line up against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, with Bruno Fernandes expected to make his debut.

Manchester United will be looking to return to winning ways in the Premier League when they welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to Old Trafford on Saturday.

The Red Devils have won their last two cup fixtures against Tranmere Rovers and Manchester City but have lost their last two in the league to Liverpool and Burnley.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side are still fifth in the Premier League table, though, six points off fourth-placed Chelsea, who have also struggled for consistency this season.

United beat Wolves 1-0 at Old Trafford in the FA Cup earlier this month, but the Red Devils have not overcome the former Championship winners in the league on home soil since December 2011.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how the 20-time English champions could line up this weekend.

United confirmed the signing of Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon on Thursday, and the Portugal international is expected to go straight into the starting XI for this weekend's contest.

The attacker has scored 15 times and provided 14 assists in 28 appearances for Sporting this term and having come through his now former club's last clash with Maritimo on Monday night, the 25-year-old should be handed a spot in Solskjaer's side at Old Trafford.

Paul Pogba, Scott McTominay, Axel Tuanzebe and Marcus Rashford remain on the treatment table, while Nemanja Matic's red card against Manchester City on Wednesday night will also rule him out.

As a result, Andreas Pereira could slot in alongside Fred in central midfield, while Daniel James and Juan Mata are in line for spots in attack having been left out of the XI against Pep Guardiola's side.

Brandon Williams should get the nod over Luke Shaw at left-back, while Anthony Martial, who has 12 goals to his name in all competitions this season, will lead the line.

Mason Greenwood is another option in the final third of the field, although the 18-year-old is expected to start on the bench alongside Jesse Lingard, who struggled at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night.
