Louis van Gaal: Manchester United "have to improve a lot"

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal insists that there is more to come from his side between now and the end of the season.

Louis van Gaal has demanded to see some improvement from his Manchester United side if they are to finish in the top four this campaign.

The Red Devils are on course to claim a Champions League berth for next season and are also still in with a chance of winning the FA Cup.

However, Van Gaal has yet to truly see his side produce a string of convincing performances since he took the helm last summer, with the Dutchman recognising that there is still a lot more to come.

"Until now we could have played better in ball possession - we have had unnecessary losses in ball possession and we have to improve that," he is quoted as saying by ESPN.

"But I think we have a very good defensive organisation and also a very good attacking organisation. We are fourth in the scoring goals league and also third or fourth in the defensive way of playing.

"I don't think we are very bad - we are very good - but we can improve. We have to improve a lot in my opinion, but at the end maybe we can see we are the best team."

United return to league action later today when they take on West Ham United at Upton Park.
