Cardiff City defender Ben Turner believes that referee Neil Swarbrick was right not to issue Wayne Rooney a red card in the 2-2 draw with Manchester United today.
The England international forward had a hand in both of United's goals, first by opening the scoring on 15 minutes, before crossing for Patrice Evra to head home the Red Devils' second of the afternoon on the stroke of half time.
However, Rooney's goal was preceded by a moment of controversy when the 28-year-old was booked for appearing to kick out at Jordan Mutch.
Nevertheless, Turner believes that the official made the right call and claims that other referees can learn from Swarbrick in a bid to retain the sport's physical aspect.
Speaking to Sky Sports News, the defender said: "I do think he kicked out from where I was, but I think the way game's going, I didn't want him sent off really because it's becoming less and less of a physical game and I think we need to keep some of that in the game for the enjoyment of the fans.
Former United starlet Frazier Campbell came back to haunt his old club by hitting the equaliser on 33 minutes, before the Welsh outfit salvaged a valuable point in the dying stages through Kim Bo-Kyung.
Consequently David Moyes's men lost ground on Arsenal at the summit of the Premier League, with the reigning champions sitting seven points adrift of the Gunners.
