Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says that his side can be pleased with their start to the 2021-22 campaign.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said that his side have "laid a foundation to build momentum" by picking up 13 points from their opening five matches of the 2021-22 Premier League season.

The Red Devils have lost to Young Boys and West Ham United in the Champions League and EFL Cup respectively this term but have made a strong start to their league campaign.

A record of four wins and one draw has seen the 20-time English champions collect 13 points, and they are only behind leaders Chelsea in the table on goal difference heading into the next set of fixtures.

"It's early doors but it's important the first two months you're not giving teams a head start and so far 13 points, decent return, scored quite a few goals, still things to work on and there'll be difficult challenges ahead," Solskjaer told reporters.

"We've laid a foundation to build momentum and hope to do that against Aston Villa. First defeat but then hit form and deserve more points."

Man United will be looking to make it four Premier League victories in a row when they welcome Aston Villa to Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
