Teddy Sheringham hopes that Queens Park Rangers can cause "one more little twist" in this season's title race.

Former Old Trafford favourite Teddy Sheringham is remaining hopeful that Manchester United can retain their Premier League title on Sunday.

United are level on points but eight goals behind league leaders Manchester City. The Red Devils, who face a final-day trip to Sunderland, must better the result of their rivals, who host Queens Park Rangers.

Sheringham, who was a goalscorer as Sir Alex Ferguson's side scored twice in stoppage time to beat Bayern Munich and lift the Champions League in 1999, is hoping that the title race will have "one more little twist in the tale".

He told talkSPORT: "QPR need to get a result to make sure that they are safe. Bolton could quite easily go to Stoke and win and overtake QPR, so they have to have the mindset to go to Man City and try to get a draw.

"Mark Hughes is the manager and he won't want to see Man City lift the title in front of his very own eyes. He'll be fighting very hard for QPR to get a result so we'll keep our fingers crossed that there might be one more little twist in the tale."

QPR are undefeated in their last three visits to City.
