Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani is reportedly concerned that the Glazer family could ultimately refuse to sell Manchester United.

Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani is reportedly concerned that the Glazer family could ultimately refuse to sell Manchester United.

Last November, the Glazers revealed that they were open to selling the 20-time English champions, and it had initially been thought that a takeover would go through before the opening of the summer transfer window.

However, according to the Manchester Evening News, Sheikh Jassim has not yet received a response to his offer of £5bn, which was submitted in May.

The report claims that there is now a 'real concern' that the Glazers could decide against selling the Red Devils despite a long process which has already lasted nine months.

British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe is also believed to have an offer on the table, although the bid from Ineos Group is not for 100% of the club, rather a controlling stake.

There is allegedly still a split among the Glazer siblings over the best course of action, with Sheikh Jassim and Ratcliffe becoming less confident when it comes to their chances of completing a takeover.

Sheikh Jassim has made it clear that he would be willing to make additional funds available to improve Old Trafford and the club's Carrington training complex, with Man United falling behind their rivals in those areas.

The club have been able to make three big-money signings this summer despite the uncertainty surrounding the ownership situation, with Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund arriving.

However, due to the rules surrounding Financial Fair Play, Man United are allegedly not able to make any further signings this summer unless there are some major outgoings.

Speaking during his pre-match press conference ahead of the Tottenham Hotspur contest, Ten Hag insisted that his club would be ready to "strike" in the final stages of the window if the right opportunity arrived.

Brandon Williams, Eric Bailly and Donny van de Beek are said to be among the players that the club had hoped would have departed at this stage of the market.

Man United could also have banked around £30m by selling Harry Maguire, but a potential switch to West Ham United has now broken down.

Jonny Evans could potentially become the club's fourth signing of the summer, with Ten Hag revealing that talks are ongoing with the Northern Ireland international.

Man United will be bidding to make it back-to-back wins at the start of the season when they head to Spurs, having opened their 2023-24 campaign with a 1-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers.
