Wayne Rooney is the only Englishman nominated for FIFA's Ballon D'or award this year.

Wayne Rooney is the only Englishman nominated for FIFA's prestigious Ballon d'Or award this year.

The striker has netted nine Premier League goals so far this season after helping United to achieve a record 19th league title last season.

Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has been nominated in FIFA's Coach of the Year category, along with United coach Alex Ferguson and Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.

The Premier League is also represented by United's Nani, Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero and Liverpool's Luis Suarez.

Barcelona star Lionel Messi, who has won the award for the last two years, is one of the favourites to win this year.
