Wayne Rooney remains coy over the possibility that he could play in midfield more for Manchester United.

Wayne Rooney has remained coy over his chances of playing in midfield more for Manchester United.

The striker was deployed in a deeper role alongside Michael Carrick on Sunday as United edged closer to the Premier League title with a 2-0 win at Stoke City.

When asked if a central position could become more regular for him, Rooney told talkSPORT: "I don't know. You'll have to ask (manager) Sir Alex Ferguson that. It's not for me to say."

Sunday's victory means that United need seven points from their final six games to clinch a 20th championship.
