Jamie Redknapp: 'Manchester United are capable of winning Premier League'

Jamie Redknapp says that Manchester United are "capable" of winning the Premier League, and that the fans 'won't care' about the team's style of play.

Jamie Redknapp has claimed that Manchester United's current team are 'not great', but they are "capable" of being crowned Premier League champions.

Louis van Gaal's side are second in the table, one point behind leaders Leicester City following Saturday's 2-1 win over Watford.

The team have been criticised for their lack of attacking flair this season, but Redknapp has suggested that the supporters will not care about the style of play if they win the title.

"I have to say I agree with a lot of the criticism being levelled regarding the style of Louis van Gaal's Manchester United side, but if they win the league, will the fans really care?" Redknapp wrote in his Daily Mail column.

"Yes, they lack the attacking swagger of the past but they are in a great position in the title race. Their neighbours City have already lost games 4-1 home and away this season, so United fans should be careful what they wish for.

"Nobody expected [Sir Alex Ferguson's] side to win it in 2013, but they did. This is not a great United side but they are more than capable."

United will switch their attention to the Champions League this week when they play PSV Eindhoven at Old Trafford on Wednesday.
