Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has called for the Football Association to look at an incident in which he believes that Robin van Persie deliberately elbowed Yohan Cabaye.

Referee Howard Webb decided not to take any action against the Dutch striker during a 3-0 victory for Sir Alex Ferguson's side.

Van Persie had already collected a yellow card prior to clashing with Cabaye, and Pardew thinks that FA should take a look at what happened.

He told reporters: "He's looked at Yohan and he's elbowed him, I think that perhaps needs to be looked at, to be honest.

"There's a bit of history from last year and I don't know if Robin's got caught up in that. But I think that was just a little bit of an unsavoury moment in the game.

"I actually thought that Yohan wouldn't have gone down if he hadn't done something. I hadn't seen it myself but I've seen it on the replay and it looks like he's looked at him and put his elbow out."

The Magpies slipped to their first home defeat of the season thanks to goals from Jonny Evans, Patrice Evra and Tom Cleverley.
