Jose Mourinho: 'Adnan Januzaj still in my plans'

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho insists that Adnan Januzaj still has a future at the club despite being sent out on loan to Sunderland for the 2016-17 campaign.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has insisted that Adnan Januzaj remains in his plans despite joining Sunderland on a season-long loan deal.

The 21-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough campaign for the Red Devils in 2013-14, but has since made just nine Premier League starts for the club and spent an unsuccessful loan spell at Borussia Dortmund last season.

The Belgian has once again been shipped out for the upcoming campaign, but Mourinho confirmed that the player does still have a future at Old Trafford.

"He fits in my plans. That is why he is on loan at a Premier League club. If he doesn't fit in my plans, I don't care where he is going, I just send him to Borussia Dortmund where he didn't play one match," he told reporters.

"He is talented. But in the same squad as Martial, Memphis, Young etc, it could mean not many matches. We cannot be selfish.

"We have to think about the player. Let him play well. See him every week in this country. He is with a manager who likes him a lot but we want him back."

Januzaj will reunite with former United boss David Moyes at the Stadium of Light.
