Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho downplays Antonio Conte's failure to shake his hand after the Premier League clash between the two teams.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has insisted that he had no problem with Chelsea counterpart Antonio Conte's failure to shake his hand in the wake of his side's 1-0 defeat to the Blues in Sunday's Premier League fixture.

The pair shook hands before the match, but at the full-time whistle, the Italian headed onto the pitch to speak with the referee, leaving his backroom staff to address the Red Devils boss.

Mourinho, however, has downplayed the situation, insisting that all duties were fulfilled in this regard since he shook hands with Conte's bother Gianluca, Chelsea's assistant first-team coach, after the game.

"You want me to go and chase him in the middle of the pitch? I was there. I shook hands with the people who were there," Mourinho told reporters when quizzed on Conte's conduct after the game.

"I think one of them was his brother, the assistant, so I feel that by shaking the hands of his brother and the other assistants that I did my duty. I cannot go and run to chase him.

"Why should I wait? He doesn't have to wait. There is no problem with it at all. You are always worried with these things... no problem."

Chelsea won the match courtesy of a second-half strike from Alvaro Morata.
