Scott McTominay insists that Manchester United teammate Donny van de Beek will be a huge success for the club.

Scott McTominay has backed Manchester United teammate Donny van de Beek to be a huge success at the club once he has fully settled into life at Old Trafford.

Van de Beek is yet to start a Premier League game for the Red Devils this season, but he was named in the first XI against RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

The Netherlands international could find himself back on the bench for Sunday's clash with Arsenal, though, with Bruno Fernandes expected to return in the number 10 position.

Van de Beek's lack of action in the league has been a talking point in the early stages of the season.

However, McTominay, who has worked his way back into Ole Gunner Solskjaer's starting side in recent matches, has insisted that his teammate's "time will definitely come".

"Donny van de Beek is a great lad and a brilliant football player. I'm sure, the way he is working in training and how hard he's working, his time will definitely come to get more minutes on the pitch," McTominay told United Review.

"I spoke to him a little bit and he's a top kid. The way he applies himself every day, he is never late - always on time - and always trains to his absolute maximum. We have got a really, really good player and really good person there."

United will welcome Arsenal to Old Trafford in the league on Sunday before continuing their Champions League campaign away to Istanbul Basaksehir next week.
