Manchester United defender Paddy McNair has suggested that manager Louis van Gaal has given him a confidence boost since arriving at the club last year.
The 20-year-old - who joined the Premier League giants in 2011 - made his debut for the club in a 2-1 victory over West Ham United in September 2014, and the Northern Irishman has since made 19 appearances under Van Gaal.
McNair signed a new two-year contract in February, and the youngster admits that he is grateful for the faith shown in him by the Dutchman.
"I am just going to keep working hard now and hopefully more opportunities will come along for me," McNair told United Review.
"It felt like a boost for me [to sign a new contract], it was a great feeling and I was delighted.
"The boss is a great manager, he has done so much in his career, so for somebody like that to support me gives me a massive confidence boost. I have a good relationship with him."
McNair has made three international appearances for Northern Ireland.
