Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has refused to rule out the possibility of taking over at his old club's bitter rivals Arsenal.

Pochettino was sacked by Spurs last month, being replaced by Jose Mourinho less than six months after leading the club to their first ever Champions League final.

The Argentine has been linked with a number of high-profile jobs since then, but the possibility of a sensational switch across the North London divide became more realistic when Arsenal parted company with Unai Emery just 10 days after Pochettino lost his own job.

Freddie Ljungberg is currently in caretaker charge of the Gunners, but a return of just one point from his two games in charge so far has forced the club to quicken their search for a new permanent boss.

Pochettino is understood to be one of the names in the frame, and when asked about the prospect of taking over at the Emirates Stadium, he told TyC Sports: "It's important to have a moment of calm to lower the decibels and find the energy to take on a new project, and we'll see where that is.

"I'm going to spend a few days here [in Rosario] with my family and friends, and then I'll return to London next week."

Pochettino, who last year insisted that he would never manage Arsenal, has also been linked with Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Everton in recent weeks.
