Juan Mata: 'Manchester United can't repeat poor campaign'

Juan Mata insists that Manchester United must not have a repeat of this season when they return to club action in August.

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has insisted that he and his teammates must get back to winning ways following a poor season at Old Trafford.

The North-West outfit, who sacked manager David Moyes less than 10 months after his appointment, finished seventh in the Premier League table.

With no European football in the schedule for next season, Mata believes that the team can challenge for the Premier League title, but they need to improve their home form first.

"I don't know [why things have gone wrong]," Mata told Rabona magazine. "We did not get the results we had to especially at Old Trafford. I remember it as one of the most difficult places to play as a visiting team. We need to bring that back. That is very important.

"Away from home, we are getting the results. We have been the best team away from home. That is the key point - to be reliable again at Old Trafford.

"We have to make sure there is no repeat of what has happened this season. We can be Manchester United again, as the club was in the last few years, winning Premier League titles."

Mata signed for United for a reported club-record fee of £37m from Chelsea in January.
