Manchester United are reportedly planning to make a move for Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino but may be forced to pay £32m in compensation.

Manchester United are reportedly planning to make a move for Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino.

The Red Devils have just one Premier League win since their opening-day thrashing of Chelsea, and laboured to a narrow 1-0 victory over Astana in the Europa League and were taken to penalties by League One outfit Rochdale in the EFL Cup.

Spurs, too, have had their struggles at the start of the season following an unsettled summer in which a handful of star players such as Christian Eriksen and Toby Alderweireld were unable to find new clubs.

The North London outfit have an identical record to United in the league and threw away a two-goal lead against Olympiacos in the Champions League to draw 2-2, while also being taken to penalties - and losing - to League Two side Colchester United.

However, Pochettino has shown his quality as a manager in his time as Spurs boss and United are thought to be considering a move for their long-time target, according to The Sun.

The report also suggests that, in order to get their man, United may be forced to shell out £32m in compensation as the Spurs hierarchy try to deter their rivals from snatching their head coach with a hefty price-tag.
