Manchester United consider a £20m summer move for Borussia Dortmund centre-back Manuel Akanji, according to a report.

Manchester United are reportedly considering a £20m summer move for Borussia Dortmund centre-back Manuel Akanji.

The Red Devils are expected to move for a new defender ahead of the 2022-23 campaign, with both Phil Jones and Eric Bailly potentially leaving the club in the upcoming market.

A recent report claimed that Akanji has turned down the chance to sign a new deal at Dortmund, with his current terms due to expire in June 2023.

According to Bild, the German side are not prepared to meet the centre-back's £160,000-a-week demands, which could lead to them selling him during this summer's transfer window.

The report claims that Man United have been impressed by the 26-year-old's performances this season and could make a £20m bid for him ahead of next season.

Akanji has been a key player for BVB during the 2021-22 campaign, making 28 appearances in all competitions, including 18 Bundesliga outings despite missing a spell earlier in the season through injury.
