Members of Manchester United's first-team squad are reportedly eager for Mauricio Pochettino to arrive at Old Trafford in the summer.
Ralf Rangnick was appointed as the club's interim manager earlier this season with the view of potentially remaining in the dugout in the long term.
However, given United's indifferent form, that now appears highly unlikely, leading to club officials to contemplate alternatives to the German.
While other names have been linked with the hotseat, ESPN claims that several senior players want Pochettino to be appointed as the permanent successor to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The report says that the potential arrival of the Argentine has been openly discussed with the belief that he is "the right man for the job".
Although Pochettino is currently at Paris Saint-Germain, it is widely expected that he will be allowed to depart Parc des Princes at the end of the season.
