Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane has said that United's players should be "ashamed of themselves" after manager David Moyes was sacked.

United announced that they had parted company with Moyes on Tuesday following a dismal first season for the Scot.

Speaking as a pundit on ITV before Chelsea's Champions League semi-final with Atletico Madrid, he said: "I think it's a shame, he should have been given more time. Some United players should be ashamed of themselves – they really let him down."

United lost 2-0 to Everton on Sunday in Moyes's last game in charge.
