Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic claims that his side are "underdogs" in the Premier League title race this season.

Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has claimed that his side are "underdogs" in the Premier League title race this season.

United spent big during the summer in an attempt to get themselves back amongst the upper echelons of the table, with Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Ibrahimovic and world-record signing Paul Pogba all moving to Old Trafford along with manager Jose Mourinho.

However, the Red Devils have so far struggled to live up to expectations, winning just two of their last nine league games to sit nine points adrift of leaders Chelsea in sixth.

"I said from the start that we are underdogs, we are not favourites to win the title this season," Ibrahimovic told Swedish publication Aftenbladet.

"With all the new signings this summer, people were getting all excited. But it has been four or five years that the club has not won the league or been in the top of the table. That is something we work on.

"We started off well with a few wins in a row. Then we started losing, and we lost playing badly, by several goals. We had a week when we lost three games, that has never happened to me in 15 years."

United will take on Feyenoord in the Europa League on Thursday before hosting West Ham United in their next Premier League outing at the weekend.
