Ryan Giggs says he has the luxury of phoning Alex Ferguson for advice as he prepares to embark on his brief spell as Manchester United boss.

Ryan Giggs has revealed that he has the luxury of phoning Sir Alex Ferguson for advice as he prepares to embark on his brief spell as Manchester United boss.

The 40-year-old will take charge of United's last four Premier League games this season after being named as David Moyes's successor on an interim basis earlier this week.

Giggs, who played under Ferguson for 22 years at Old Trafford, says that he will contact his former manager - who won 38 trophies for the club - to help ease his transition from the field to the dugout.

Speaking to reporters at his first press conference, the Welshman said: "He's given me advice and told me he's always at the end of the phone so that has given me a lot of comfort. It's good to know I can turn to the manager if I ever need him."

The veteran winger will kick off his managerial career when the Red Devils host Norwich City at 5.30pm today.
