Alex Ferguson will reportedly escape an FA charge for criticising officials on Saturday.

Alex Ferguson will reportedly escape an FA charge for criticising offials after Manchester United's 1-1 draw with Newcastle on Saturday.

The Red Devils boss hit out at the referee and linesman after a controversial penalty was awarded against Rio Ferdinand, which Demba Ba netted.

The FA will review the comments today but because they are not personal or abusive, no action will be taken, according to The Sun.

"The referee didn't think it was a penalty - he was eight yards away and he gave a corner kick," Ferguson said after the match. "It was a travesty, the referee was closer than the linesman. The problem is the referees are full-time and the linesmen are not."

Newcastle's Alan Pardew, Stoke's Tony Pulis and Chelsea's Andre Villas-Boas have all received FA charges for criticising officials this season.
