Sir Alex Ferguson: 'I told Nigel Pearson to show anger'

Ex-Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson reveals that he offered Nigel Pearson advice as his Leicester City side were struggling in the Premier League last season.

Former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that he offered then-Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson advice as the club were struggling to avoid relegation from the Premier League last season.

The Foxes were bottom of the table going into April, but a run of a run of seven wins from their last nine fixtures saw them comfortably survive and finish in 14th position.

Ferguson has admitted that he was impressed with the upturn in form that Pearson inspired in his side.

"I felt he was a little bit too casual," the Scot told BBC Sport.

"I said 'Your team is bottom of the league and you have to show your anger a little bit. The fans want to see you care.'

"He improved after that and so did his team. He did a great job."

Pearson was dismissed by Leicester over the summer and replaced with Claudio Ranieri.
