Damien Duff: 'Jose Mourinho could sell up to eight Manchester United players'

Jose Mourinho could sell eight Manchester United players during the summer transfer window, according to former Chelsea winger Damien Duff.

Former Chelsea winger Damien Duff has claimed that new Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho could get rid of up to eight players in the current transfer window as he bids to build the team in his image.

The Portuguese boss, who managed Duff at Chelsea, is now at the helm of the Red Devils, putting pen to paper on a three-year contract last week.

Speaking at the launch of RTE's coverage of Euro 2016, Duff said: "I guess there'll be five, six, seven or eight out, and [Mourinho] will have to replace them with the same amount of players, which is going to cost an awful lot of money.

"But it's one big band of brothers, us against the world – that's what he builds. He's based all his teams on that.

"I think he's the only man for the job, and I think he was the only man for the job three years ago, before David Moyes went and then Louis van Gaal after."

Duff won two Premier League titles and the League Cup during his three years in West London, as Chelsea became champions for the first time in 50 years under Mourinho.
