Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo scores the 700th goal of his club career to give his side the lead against Everton at Goodison Park.

Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo has scored the 700th goal of his club career to give his side the lead against Everton at Goodison Park this evening.

The 37-year-old was named on the bench once again as Erik ten Hag opted for Anthony Martial to lead the line, with Antony and Marcus Rashford on the wings.

However, Martial lasted only 29 minutes before being forced off through injury, with Ronaldo replacing him up front.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner needed just 15 minutes to score his first Premier League goal of the campaign too, firing past Jordan Pickford at his near post after being played through by Casemiro.

In doing so, Ronaldo brought up another significant milestone in his distinguished career, becoming the first player to ever score 700 club goals.

The Portuguese forward has now scored 144 of those for Manchester United, in addition to 450 for Real Madrid, 101 for Juventus and five for Sporting Lisbon.

Ronaldo will now turn his attention to reaching the 500-goal mark in league games, with today's strike taking him to 498 in that particular tally.

Including his 117 goals for the Portugal national team, Ronaldo now has well over 800 career goals for club and country - more than any other player in the history of football.
