Slaven Bilic: 'Bastian Schweinsteiger should see red'

West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic believes that Bastian Schweinsteiger should have been sent off for an elbow on Winston Reid.

West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic admitted he was disappointed that Bastian Schweinsteiger was not sent off in his side's 0-0 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The German international appeared to swing an elbow at Winston Reid while waiting for a free kick in the first half and Bilic believes that had the referee seen the incident, the midfielder would have seen red.

The Croatian told Sky Sports News: "I said to the referee that they showed me that it is a red card but I can accept that he did not see it and no matter how many referees you have, sometimes they do not see it.

"I am sure that if he had seen it that it would be a straight red but it was not so of course we are disappointed but that happens."

The 47-year-old was pleased with his side's performance and felt that they created the better chances throughout the game.

The former Besiktas manager added: "Man United had their chances but they are Man United, they have a quality in everything but we defended great as a team, not only the back four who were outstanding when needed, two centre halves we magnificent, but the whole team defended really well.

"But we were good on the ball. In the first half, we had the best chance of the half and also hit the post twice so basically we should have been in front.

"You have to use your chances, you cannot expect so many chances against a team that have only conceded one goal at home so far."

The point moves West Ham up to sixth in the Premier League table.
