A frustrating summer transfer window has now closed with Manchester United having missed out on a number of their top targets, including Jadon Sancho.
The Red Devils were busy on deadline day, though, bringing in Edinson Cavani, Alex Telles and Facundo Pellistri, in addition to agreeing a deal to sign Amad Traore in January. Attention will now switch to other business they may do when the window reopens in the winter.
Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest news on possible comings and goings from Old Trafford.
Monday morning's Manchester United transfer talk news roundup:
Manchester United 'set to double Bruno Fernandes wages with lucrative new deal'
Manchester United are reportedly ready to reward Bruno Fernandes with a bumper new deal which would see his wages at Old Trafford double.
The Portugal international has taken the Premier League by storm since his arrival and once again proved his importance to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side against West Ham United.
Fernandes was initially named on the bench, but the playmaker was brought on when United were 1-0 down and set up Paul Pogba for the equaliser, with Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford also on target in that 3-1 victory.
According to The Mirror, United are now prepared to offer Fernandes a lucrative new deal worth £200,000 per week at Old Trafford, with the 26-year-old currently pocketing £100k per week in Manchester.
Fernandes will not see his current deal expire until 2025, but his current weekly wage is three times below Pogba's, while the club's top earner David de Gea is on a £350,000-per-week deal.
Fernandes has already netted 10 times this season in all competitions, and the former Sporting Lisbon man has also set up his teammates six times in the 2020-21 campaign.
Manchester United 'set to trigger Jesse Lingard contract extension'
Manchester United are reportedly considering triggering Jesse Lingard's one-year contract extension at Old Trafford.
The 27-year-old is yet to play a minute in the 2020-21 Premier League campaign and only has a year left to run on his existing deal with the Red Devils.
With Lingard restricted to appearances in the EFL Cup this term, recent reports have claimed that Celtic and Rangers could potentially swoop for the England international if he opts to leave.
However, according to the Daily Star, United are set to extend Lingard's contract by another year until the summer of 2022, despite the midfielder's lack of game time under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The report claims that United still expect Lingard to move on, but they are determined to recoup a fee for him rather than see the Englishman walk away for free when his deal runs out.
Lingard has risen through the ranks at Old Trafford and boasts a total of 33 goals in 209 appearances for the 20-time English champions since his debut in 2014.
