Tom Cleverley has admitted that he cannot wait to represent Great Britain at the Olympic Games later this month.
The Manchester United midfielder was named as part of Stuart Pearce's 18-man squad for the Games yesterday afternoon.
Having missed a large part of last season through injury, which hampered his chances of going to Euro 2012 with England, the 22-year-old revealed that his selection for Team GB has more than made up for that disappointment.
"I'm buzzing about it. I cannot wait. It is a great way for me to bounce back after the disappointment of not going to the Euros with England," he told the Manchester Evening News.
"It's a young squad, apart from the older-age players, and after England's Euro 2012 experience a lot of people are talking about putting the accent on youth.
"This is a chance for me to remind people early. They've put trust in us and I want to repay that faith."
Cleverley made 10 Premier League appearances for the Red Devils last season.
