How Derby County could line up against Manchester United

Sports Mole looks at how Derby County could line up for their EFL Cup trip to Manchester United on Tuesday night.

Derby County take on Manchester United on Tuesday night aiming to pull off a big upset in the EFL Cup third-round tie at Old Trafford.

The Rams have made a positive start to the season under new boss Frank Lampard, who won this competition twice during his playing days with Chelsea.

Promotion from the Championship takes priority for Lampard, meaning that multiple changes could be made to his starting lineup for this high-profile fixture.

Ahead of the midweek clash, Sports Mole looks at how County could line up at the Theatre of Dreams.

Possible DER XI vs. MNU

OUT: Curtis Davies (hamstring), Ikechi Anya (calf), George Evans (knee)

Lampard must decide whether to stick with David Nugent through the middle on Tuesday evening, or instead bring in the pacier Jack Marriott.

Harry Wilson and Mason Mount have also been regulars this term, with the latter scoring five and setting up another in his first 11 games for the club, but one or both of them could miss out on the XI here.

If that is the case then Florian Jozefzoon, who started the wins over Oldham Athletic and Hull City in the last two rounds, may profit in attack.

Evans and Davies will miss out with knee and hamstring injuries respectively, meanwhile, and utility man Anya remains a long-term absentee with a calf problem.
